Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for questions to be asked about his position after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
