Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular programs including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to reports.
"Pat Finn never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a announcement.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive TV Career
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a party host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, including:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Beyond the Screen
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
