A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before running away.
The motive behind the shooting has not been established and no arrests have been made, as per the official statement.

Authorities indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a building close to the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the building managing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, it was reported.
"The report indicates the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report stated.

The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
