Supporters Urge Detainment of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are calling for that a individual who jumped a barricade and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared clip depicts the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "released after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was set to appear on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
History of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented another message on Instagram.
Some attendees also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded online networks to block Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of attendees had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had queued for as long as many hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-part version of the acclaimed stage show Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two very different sorceresses.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of 2024 in the UK, and scored a dozen Oscar nominations, winning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
