The Details Known Concerning the Fatalities of the Bondi Beach Terror Attack
At least 16 lives lost their lives and in excess of 40 sustained injuries when assailants fired on a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, a tragedy Australian police have called a act of terrorism.
According to the most recent information, officials have stated the death toll is 16, including one of the alleged gunmen. Moreover, 42 wounded individuals were admitted to the hospital.

Eli Schlanger
London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first to be publicly identified.
Known as a father-of-five, he was the assistant rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and acquaintances described him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How can a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, meet his end in this way?” a relative remarked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the arrival of their youngest child just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, as stated by his wife.
She described the events leading up to the attack, explaining they had been standing together when the gunfire erupted. “He pushed his body up because he wanted to stay near me,” she stated.
The husband and wife were both survivors of the Holocaust, having experienced immense hardship in their childhood. They had subsequently relocated to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
French foreign ministry have confirmed that French man Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
Publicly, the Foreign Minister expressed that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a new, tragic manifestation of a revolting outpouring of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the statement read.
One Child
A 10-year-old girl who was taken to the a children's hospital is among those who had died, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
A national of Israel was a fatality in the incident, according to multiple sources citing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, a significant number are still under care, with a number in critical condition. Those hurt include two officers who responded to the attack.
A casualty is a member of the public who attempted to intervene to confront one of the gunmen. Described as a local hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. Sources state he was injured and underwent treatment in hospital.
Communicating, he described the incident as an “utter carnage,” but also noted the response of those who came to assist. He said he believed it was a “stroke of luck” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was another casualty in the shooting. He said he heard “a large number” of shots.
“I thought it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I sustained a gunshot wound. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
